Maternity policy

When a member of staff takes time off for a baby they may be eligible for one or more of the following:

  • Statutory Maternity Leave
  • Statutory Maternity Pay
  • Paid time off for antenatal care
  • Extra help from the government

There are various rules on how and when to claim paid maternity leave, and we’ve created this handy maternity calculator you can use to make sure you get your claim in at the right time according to when your staff member’s baby is due.

It’s sensible to ensure that you have a documented Maternity Policy, which sets out in detail staff member’s rights throughout their maternity period. Various legal rights must be considered for pregnant women before, during and after childbirth. Importantly, there are aspects to consider around the right to leave, and also Statutory Maternity Pay.

The UK government has detailed additional information regarding Maternity Pay and Leave which is a worthwhile read.

On from this we have created and provide a Maternity Policy which covers the various areas of policy and legislation you should have in place.
