Notice Periods Policy

This policy sets out the circumstances in which an employee is required to work their notice period and the employer’s expectations of the employee during the notice period.

The aims of this policy are to specify the notice periods required by the employer and by the employee and set out the obligations of an employee during the notice period.

Employers must give employees who have been employed by the company between one month and two years a minimum of one weeks’ notice. After two years an employer must give a minimum notice to employees of one week for each completed year of service, up to a maximum number of 12 weeks. If an employer has stated in the employee’s contract a longer notice period then the employer must give the notice defined in the contract of employment.
