20th December 2019
2019 has been an epic year for Staff Squared. We are both sad to see the year coming to an end and humbled to be able to look back over the last 12 months at the amazing updates and new features that have been brought to our beloved HR solution.
New Expense Workflows
The year kicked off to a tremendous start with the introduction of a new, streamlined expense process which helps you and your staff to easily and efficiently submit multiple receipts and mileage for one expense claim, meaning that you can get back to doing what you do best without spending unnecessary time adding receipts individually to your expense claims. The expenses upgrade introduced a host of new enhancements including:
- The ability to submit and approve multiple receipts.
- Assign expense approvers.
- The ability to duplicate previous expences.
- Receive HMRC limit notifications.
- Enhanced reporting.
Bulk File Sharing
We spent some time after overhauling expenses to really get into how we could improve the way your store and manage your company and employee files. It occurred to us that having to share these with the people who require access on an individual basis is no small feat, and so we set to work to implement bulk sharing – your files get shared with all the right people, and it now takes a fraction of the time!
Week Ahead and Holiday Allowance Emails
In the same release, we also introduced some great new email notifications. Week Ahead emails, which let you and your staff know what is going on in the coming days, give you that extra bit of time to plan your week. While Holiday Allowance emails let admins and managers know just how much holiday their staff have left and when they need to take it by.
Soon after, insights were added to your Dashboard in a brand new Reports tab. These give you information about your employees at a quick glance and include:
- Employee status.
More Granular Time Tracking
Dashboard insights were closely followed by a complete overhaul of the time tracking workflow; and we were pretty excited about it, too.
With the addition of a brand new start/stop timer at the top of your page, and pinned throughout Staff Squared, you now never have to leave a page to start recording your time again. Perfect for when you’re working on goals or managing other areas you need to time yourself for.
Additionally, we completed changed the way you add new clients and projects, making this much easier and more straightforward to do as well as:
- Adding a search bar on your Projects and Clients page, meaning that you no longer have to scroll to find the project you’re looking for.
- Ordering timesheets by the most recent entry showing at the top, allowing for more efficient time recording.
- Styling changes to time tracking.
- Ordering projects by Client in the Projects and Clients page.
We love a good old report here at Staff Squared, and we thought ‘what better than a report than a report with a pretty graph?’
We recently added a whole load of charts to our most popular reports, allowing you to see your employee’s data at a glance in comprehensive new visuals. We even grouped all the reports that now have graphs and charts into one area so that you can easily find the data you’re looking for.
If you’ve heard of NPS, then you’ll know that it’s a great way to measure employee satisfaction. Something that every employer wants to understand to offer the best to (and get the best from) their staff.
Pulse allows you to do just that from the comfort of your own HR solution. This was a very exciting new feature for our team, as we are only in the first phase of development and simply cannot wait to see how Pulse unfolds in the future.
Soon after Pulse was unleashed to the world, we released Jobs – our very own Applicant Tracking System.
Many of our customers asked about having an ATS system within Staff Squared, and we thought that it was a cracking idea! Like Pulse, Jobs is only at MVP level at the moment, but we are looking forward to developing this new feature in the future to build a more comprehensive ATS system for you to use.
Another common request was the ability to block certain periods out in the company calendar to prevent staff from requesting time off during crucial periods where the company needs all hands on deck.
We got to work on blocked holidays, which allows you to do just that, while still allowing discretionary bookings through if the need arises.
Most recently, we were really pleased to welcome Company Links to the Staff Squared arsenal – a Dashboard widget that allows you to link to external company pages such as your website or tools required to work effectively within the business.
